This little pineapple went to market...

A Pineapple Queen Bee (PQB) is always busy even on a Saturday. Today was an early start, well not as early as planned, due to an over slept alarm... yes these things happen in the Pineapple Palace. However with a banana smoothie down the hatch, PQB was off an racing, off to Mumatopia Cas's place in neighbouring hills of Mt Crosby to collect the kind offering of a pop-up Marquee.

Then off to Red Hill to collect the human juke box Tim Jackman and his trusty sidekick Old Mate Ross Smith. With a quick reshuffle of marquee, guitars, mini-amps, retro stool (a Xmas present apparently - very nice!), the pineapple mobile was off to market to market to buy a fat hen... well to at least dust off a few tunes from the vinyl frontier for the fine folk and marketeers of BrisStyle Indie Eco Markets.

It was a very pleasant relaxed market with very high quality hand-crafted goods for sale. Helen and Belle are lovely hosts and made they Tim and Rosco feel very comfortable, welcome and appreciated. Makes it all worthwhile.

While the boys were crooning the crowds with oldies and goldies, PQB made hay while the sun shined. I had a lovely chat with Megan Kelly of Meggy Green who makes the most divine notebooks, cards, book marks and many other delights out of the much loved Golden Books of our childhoods. We got onto chatting about our Irish heritages and also Megan's experiences that while people may browse on market day, she finds lots of follow ups on her etsy site after the markets.

I also found out about a new market about to happen on the Gold Coast called The Butterfly Tree on 1 Aug, 10 Oct, 5 Dec at the Arts Centre, Gold Coast.

I also popped next door to Nourish - a wonderful cafe with home made food to feed your soul. I had a tuna rice pattie with chilli relish which was totally delish!

Back to the markets and the music, Tim and Ross finished first set, and Tim's alter ego, King of the Kids, came to life, and like the pied piper, before you could say Baa Baa Black Sheep, he had a circle of toddlers, rocking and swaying to his memorising rock'n'roll rhymes. Of course the bubbles came out to delight the young and the young at heart!

Set two started with a roam around the hall which was greatly appreciated by the stall holder inside who were missing all the fun that was happening on the lawn! PQB made a bee line to Ruby 2 Go Go (which happened to be Helen - the Hostess with indie style!) to purchase a Big Pineapple t-shirt transfer (yes, the iron on ones - very gorgeously retro) with the word Pineapple Princess proudly displayed. Can't wait to find the perfect T to do the transfer! And after chatting with the lovely Helen about my obsession with the Nut mobile and the Big Pineapple and its connection to how I came to name my business Pineapple Productions, she presented me with the most kitch home made fan, made from vintage postcard repros from the Big Pineapple, with a plastic spoon as the handle. You have to see it to believe it! Really! I was so excited.

So the reset of a day was a blur after that... packed the pineapple mobile, went to the house of Jackman and had a delightful chicken, pesto, lettuce, parmesan sourdough sanga, and then off to drop Rosco home, deliver the marqee back to Cas and Wayne and then home for this little Pineapple! Hot salts bath, dinner, and a dvd. Looking forward to Sunday! But what an amazing day.

Thanks Tim & Ross for the Music, Mumatopia Cas for the Marquee and thanks BrisStyle for the Markets. MMM...
